Private Vault – Privacy Policy

Private Vault (com.codingapps.privatevault) is published by CodingApps.

Your photos and videos

Photos and videos you add to Private Vault are encrypted and stored only in this app's private storage on your device. They are never uploaded to our servers. We do not operate any server that receives your media, and the vault works fully offline.

Local processing

Encryption, thumbnails, viewing, restoring and sharing all happen on your device. Encryption keys are protected by your device's secure hardware (Android Keystore). Your PIN is never stored.

Advertising

The app shows ads provided by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data to show and measure ads, as described in Google's privacy policy. Where required by law (for example in the EEA and UK), you are asked for consent, and you can change your choice in Settings. Ads never have access to your vault content.

Analytics and diagnostics

We use Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics to understand how the app is used and to fix crashes. These receive anonymous events (for example "an import completed") and technical crash data. They never receive your photos, videos, thumbnails, file names, PIN or keys.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, Firebase Cloud Messaging assigns this install a random push token so we can send occasional tips and app news. Notifications never contain or refer to your vault content. You can turn them off in Settings or in Android's app settings at any time.

Updates

The app checks Google Play for newer versions so it can offer updates in the app. This check is handled by Google Play on your device.

Permissions

Photos and videos are selected through the Android system photo picker, which does not require broad storage access. On Android 8 and 9 only, storage permission is requested when you restore files or remove originals. Fingerprint data never leaves your device's secure hardware.

Removing originals

If you choose "Remove Originals", Android asks you to confirm before anything is deleted. This removes the copy from this device's Gallery only. If the media was already backed up to a cloud service, a cloud copy may still exist.

Data retention

Vault files remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app. Uninstalling the app or losing the device may permanently remove vault contents. Vault data is excluded from device backups.
